Hamas’s child victims and Israel’s survival

Today I am thinking of Israelis and Palestinians, and all the children on both sides who deserve so much better than what they have, especially Palestinian children, because their leaders in Gaza simply do not value these children’s lives above their own (so called ‘leaders”) lives or selfish goals. (I understand Hamas leaders hide in underground tunnels when the going gets tough, but apparently they – and those children’s parents – at least sometimes let children play out in the open in areas they have been warned are about to be bombed). I can’t make assertions about every case, but I know that many Palestinian children are being used by their fanatical leaders and at best, neglected by parents. Sometimes they are strapped with bombs. The bottom line is they are being offered up as human sacrifices to the cause of jihad. This is criminal, and I grieve for these children.

Hamas leaders locate rockets within Palestinian homes and fire from there. Their strategy is to hide behind civilians and rack up the civilian death toll on the Palestinian side so the world will demonize Israel. Until the world understands this basic dynamic and rejects the knee-jerk impulse to blame Israel, this carnage will continue, this war will never end.

Israel may not be perfect, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it best, “Here’s the difference between us. We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians and they’re using civilians to protect their missiles.”

Or as Golda Meir said long ago, “There will be peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate the Israelis.”
