Love Letters from Ron Paul’s People

You gotta love Ron Paul and his admirers. No sooner had I posted a few thoughts about the man’s performance on “Meet the Press” on Sunday than I started receiving vitriolic comments from his followers across the country. That’s ok – it’s good to get comments. But their nasty and personal tone (see comments to my previous post) seems if anything to support my theory that disgruntled types may tend to go for Paul.

Oh, corrections to yesterday’s post – Paul actually called Reagan a “failure” (as opposed to a loser) and the word he has claimed was not his, in describing Reagan, was “traitor.” But my personal favorite is Paul’s reference to George H.W. Bush as a “bum.” That one’s just downright funny. Love or hate him and his policies, in what universe does that industrious patrician gent resemble a “bum?” That one’s beyond me.

I guess I touched a few nerves with my joke that Ron Paul reminds me of a kid who’s been locked in the bathroom with Atlas Shrugged for too long. But how seriously can you take a guy who specializes in wholesale name calling and second guessing of past presidents, including some of the greatest Republican Presidents of all time?

If you hate "that industrious patrician gent," wouldn't you be inclined to call him a bum?
