Petraeus, ya broke our hearts

You picked a fine time to leave us, Petraeus.

We’re supposed to believe that, after carrying on an extramarital affair since 2010, and ending the affair last September, Gen. David Petraeus picked this moment to resign as CIA director over the affair. And the FBI is somehow more concerned about it now than it was over the past several years when it was actively taking place.

As it happens, Petraeus was all set to testify at an upcoming congressional hearing about the terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

I’m sure President Obama is crushed that Petraeus won’t be able to make it.

Is it possible that someone in the Administration made sure it was understood that Petraeus was expected to cover for the President?
