The party following tonight’s TONY awards took place at Rockefeller Center’s Rock Center Cafe, and yielded me a nice celebrity siting/anecdote. The champagne was flowing liberally, but I’m happy to say a drop of patriotism was in the air.
I can’t say we discussed politics at any length, but I managed to buttonhole Chris Henchy, the comedy writer and TV producer husband of Brooke Shields. I reminded him of his old fraternity brother and friend USMC Lieutenant Colonel David Rosner, an Iraq war veteran and stand up comic about whom I’ve written for the Forward and The New York Sun.
Very much the attentive husband with stunning Brooke on his arm, Henchy was quite lovely and polite. When I mentioned something about how I know Lieutenant Colonel Rosner, he laughed and said, “Yeah, Dave is a wild man. He’s back from Iraq right? Good for him. He used to send me stuff.”
I said hello to Brooke, too, and she said hello back.
Well, I didn’t say it was a long story.

Cute tale, Ms. R. Not long on content, but pleasant. Wish we all could have been there.
